Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Course Information
Course Prerequisites:
Initial: BLS
Healthcare Provider (CPR) recommended. Submission of pre-course written self-assessment exam is required
upon entry to course.
Renewal: BLS
Healthcare Provider (CPR). Current or recently expired AHA PALS Provider Card and completion of PALS pre-course
assignment. Completion and submission of pre-course written self-assessment exam is required upon entry to course.
Intended Audience:
Initial: The ACLS Provider course is designed for personnel
who staff emergency departments, intensive care units, or critical care departments, as well as physicians, mid-level providers,
paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.
Renewal: This course is designed for
seasoned ACLS providers who wish to renew their provider status. The course provides a stimulus for expert clinicians and
scientists to identify and discuss resuscitation in special circumstances.
Course Details
The course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult cardiovascular
emergency including ventricular fibrillation / ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest. Students are expected to learn
to manage 10 core ACLS cases: respiratory emergency, 4 types of cardiac arrest (simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA, and Asystole),
4 types of prearrest emergencies (Bradycardia, Stable Tachycardia, Unstable Tachycardia, and Acute Coronary Syndromes), and
Stroke.
Course Fees
Pre-registration
is required for either course and fees will include: American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Textbook, Quick Reference Chart, Interactive Course Companion CD, course schedule, Continuing Education Credit letter, and
AHA course completion card.
