Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR-Healthcare Provider)


Course Information


Course Prerequisites:


Initial
: Healthcare Provider.  Submission of pre-course written self-assessment exam is required upon entry to course.


Renewal
: Current or recently expired AHA BLS Provider Card and completion of BLS pre-course assignment. Completion and submission of pre-course written self-assessment exam is required upon entry to course


Intended Audience:


Initial
:  This program is for individuals who have not taken CPR before, individuals who do not perform CPR on a regular basis as part of their job and for individuals with expired cards. It will cover Adult, Child, Infant CPR, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO), AED as well as other program updates.


Renewal
: This renewal course is for individuals who are current (not expired CPR card) and will cover Adult, Child, Infant CPR, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO), AED as well as other program updates.


Course Details


For emergency and critical care providers, such as: physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, dentists, and any other healthcare provider that may initiate, direct, or respond to a cardiovascular emergency.  The BLS course also covers topics such as: adult and pediatric CPR, foreign body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation. 


Course Fees


Pre-registration is required for either course and fees will include: American Heart Association  Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Textbook, Quick Reference Chart, Interactive Course Companion CD, course schedule, Continuing Education Credit letter, and AHA course completion card.
