Exposure to COVID-19, as with any other virus, is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention, senior citizens and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. We cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during or as a result of participating in our in-person courses. Therefore, by participating in an in-person class you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Our on-site courses may be modified if the Governor of Tennessee issues Executive Orders would prohibit us from fulfilling in-person course completion whether whole or in part. Benchmark will abide by TN laws in effect at the time of the course.
Some of the precautions implemented for our on-site courses include touchless temperature checks upon entry, self-screening guide, limitation of on-site participants. alcohol-based hand gel at each table, and reduced skill contact. In accordance with the current CDC mask guidance, in areas of substantial or high liklihood of COVID-19 transmission, particpants are encouraged to wear face coverings in all indoor areas, regardless of vaccination status.
The American Heart Association (AHA) strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. The use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.

Therefore, by participating in a Benchmark activity, the participant hereby holds harmless and forever discharge Benchmark, its volunteers, employees, agents, representatives, and licensees, from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I or any respective heirs, executors, administrators, or assigns have or may have resulting by reason of participating in a Benchmark activity. The participant furthermore agrees and understands that comprehension and performance is an individual responsibility; that Benchmark does not license or certify individuals in skills or procedures; and that the participant must adhere to local standing orders, protocols, or other medical direction, and within the individual's scope of practice.
